Welcome To

RESILIENT 305

Each city faces its own set of urban challenges and threats and the Greater Miami metro area is no exception. As one of the most highly sought after vacation destinations in the world, the region is often regarded as a sexy, fun and colorfully diverse community where people come to work, play and enjoy its natural beauty.

Ensuring that we continue to grow as a community that attracts investment, talent and tourism from all over the world, means that we must work towards building and preserving an economic, social and environmental infrastructure that is strong and that can bounce back quickly in the face of adverse events, such as a natural disaster, economic collapse, infrastructure failure, disease outbreak or any other situation that can acutely affect its population.

Through this initiative, Resilient 305 seeks to create a culture and consciousness of resilience around the issues that are most affecting our ability to live, work and prosper in Greater Miami and the Beaches.

With input from citizens throughout the region, we are looking to put the right strategy in place that will not only prepare us to survive, but that will ensure we can thrive for generations to come. We know that working together we can help to make Greater Miami and the Beaches the gold standard for resilience worldwide.

The Resilient

305 vision

Through a grant set forth by the 100 Resilient Cities initiative pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation, Miami-Dade County, the City of Miami, the City of Miami Beach, the Resilient 305 team joined forces to develop a resilience strategy for the region. Together, they set out to learn from local grassroots, community, business and academic leaders the challenges that were most hindering our community’s ability to build and maintain a viable future for the people who call Greater Miami and the Beaches their home.
Over many months, we listened and have been taking a stern look at the issues that people said were most stressing our population. Among them, affordable housing, mobility, income inequality, sea level rise, climate change and health and safety in our communities. Along with diverse members of the community, we have been working to bring forth creative solutions that will allow us to address these issues with innovation and ingenuity.
In early 2019, the Resilient 305 team will present the resilience strategy for the region that has been built through this collaborative effort with the input of thousands of Miamians who have committed to ensuring that our great community is vibrant and thriving for generations to come.
